Any questions, please just ask your host. We are here to help

1.  HEATING AND HOT WATER

This has a timer in the 2nd bedroom next to the kitchen

The hot water can be turned on at the timer by opening up the timers swing door, and selecting hot water on to on where it will stay on all the time.  Auto is on timed, and (the times are 5am to 8pm and noon to 3pm, 5pm to 8pm default, but these can be adjusted, details are on the timer)

Heating is the same procedure.  Turn on this way.

The radiators have individually controlled thermostats on each radiator

2.  TV/DVD player. Play your own DVDs we have left a selection of DVDs for you. Please feel free to bring your own as well and play music, or any movie you wish.

There is a remote control with it. Select onat on button on the remote. Insert DVD. Press play.

The screen has also on screen additional instructions.

TV is a smart TV which works throuhg Wi-Fi when Wi-Fi becomes available you can just link to it quite easily and you can watch things on Youtube and other Apps just like when you use your mobile phone

3.  Fireplace please use with caution and never leave it unsupervised. Always use the fireguard. Supervise children and keep a safe distance from the fire.

NEVER put any explosive cans or anything dangerous into the fire. Make sure you ensure the fire is fully out before you go to bed.. DO NOT Block the air vent in the lounge this is there for your own safety

At the end of your stay please make sure you clean the ashes when cool, to the bin outside provided. As a self catering Guests are to provide their own charlcoals during their rental period for fireplace use. A very little amout of small logs/pieces of wood can be used but not recommended as it can cause problems with chimney vents. Using charcoals is the perfect solution and the safest

4.  Kettle. WE have fitted an additional safety device to it to stop the risk of scalding by accidently pressing thewater open button, by us disabling it.

To fill with water, please open manually when cool at the top of the kettle.

Please be safe and don’t overfill it

5.  Cooker and oven there is a hotplate that has knobs marked for each hob, and it’s electrical with its main isolation red switch at the top left in the wall. Turn that on. Then select the hob function that you want

The oven is self explanatory, with it's separate control knob that powers the grill. The top grill for toast. And the other indicators are for the oven. Set temperature desired with the other thermostat knob.

MAKE SURE THE OVEN IS TURNED OFF AT THE REDISOLATION SWITCH AFTER EACH USE NEVER LEAVE UNSUPERVISED

6.  Microwave use the cook button to selectthe desired times. There is specific guides on the microwave as to what each button does. But generally, to heat food up, press the heat button per 30minutes for each press. Medium and high cook can also be selected

7.  Washing machine/Tumble Dryer it has a manual there inthe drawer. However, it’s self explanatory, with you loading washing (don’t mix whites with blacks or other colours!!)  and put powder in,and fabric Softener, close door and tray, select the relevant programme to wash.  Then, press the flashing right hand power button to start it. It then will do the wash.

8.  HOT WATER Safety be aware the water is "very hot" for safety to kill any risk of legionnaires etc. In accordance withour risk assessment. This is to keep you safe.

Supervision of children is important and mixthe water with the cold on the mixer taps.

9.  WATER GENERAL be aware the water comes from a private water supply and NOT suitable for drinking.

OR Brushing teeth. As a self catering guests are to provide your own drinking water during their rental period.

THE WATER OCCASIONALLY CAN BE A BIT BROWN, IT BEOMES DARKER COLOUR AT CERTAIN TIMES OF THE YEAR TOO AND IT’S NORMAL SO PLEASE DON'T PANIC. IT'S GENERALLY LIKE THAT AS IT’S FROM A PRIVATE SUPPLY. IT’S SAFE FOR BATHING AND TOILET USE

We have tested it and we are actually a plumbing and heating company ourselves, and can confirm it’s getting filtered and the system comes from a sun based disinfecting system with stone filters.  I regularly test it myself I’m a qualified plumber/gas safe engineer. My risk assessment will tell you although it can be drank and won’t cause any harm, my risk assessment states "I wish to not allow you to drink it" if you get your own drinking water supply from local shops in the area before your arrival it would be the best way or you can go to shops nearby during your stay

10. TOILET. Remember the house is 300 year sold and the drains are small. Please DON’T block or put too much toilet rolls down to the toilet. Always use the two buttons to flush it.

NEVER NEVER Put wipes/sanitary pads down to it!!!!

It goes to a septic tank and only small amount of toilet paper is to go down slowly each time of use to prevent it from getting blocked up

11.  Garden and the main road. Keep children supervised outside as there is a main road there. The gate should be kept closed for your safety and when in the garden. Same applies with dogs keep onlead when walking them. Apply common sense to keep yourself and everyone safe. The garden chairs are decorative and not for sitting on, they are from the early 1940s and it’s a collector. However, on request we can provide you outside chairs.

12.  Car parking we have a driveway you can parkin. Best way is to reverse park in.  However, if its too difficult just park either just at the side of the garden, or just acrossthe small road just back from the bins, there is a lay by there

We cannot accept liability for any damage to cars and parked at your own risk, however, we will work to ensure there is a space andwe never have touch wood, had any damage. Just keep the road clear and we recommend parking facing downhill and handbrake on and keep in gear as well. Keep car in wellto keep the road clear

13.  Walks and things to do. There is a lot ofthings and activities to do.  You can walk up the hill, and to your left, just before the castle, you will see a track to yourleft. Follow that up hill, then you will see a track to your right, just beforethe cottage. This track goes for miles to many other tracks and forest and amazing beautiful walks. If you walk to the end, till you come to a stream, turn left, thengo till you come to another track going over the stream then that one goes to thelong one I will show you on the map. Its southbound and that goes up a hill to anamazing viewpoint.

There is also another walk you can do with out the car same as above, if you simply again walk up the hill from The cottage, past the castle, turnright, go past the horse stable, go over the bridge, and you will see a track goingup a hill. Follow that to another nice walk

And in the village nearby Tarbert, there is the Co-op and manyshops and starfish restaurant is great and much more.

There is a castle in Tarbert to see and if you want to see asunset at the sea, with a moonlit night, why not head to the south road towards Campbeltown towards glen Barr, its amazing sunsets and even in high season, chancesare you will have the beach at sunset to yourself.

Campbeltown is famous for its cheese making factory. Why notgo there and try it? And see the famous Davar island. You can actually walk acrossto the island at low tide, but, don’t get stuck! Get back before it comes in!

Why not also goto oban? A lovely place with great fishing andseafood. Ferry access to the island of mull and see islay where they make whisky

WATERFALL.... not forgetting to mention that, it’s right nextto the house!! It’s a walk across the road and along a bit you will see it. Take care as the rocks can be slippery, supervision of children is important.

The waterfall doesn’t belong to us, but we are allowed rights of access to enjoy it. It also can lead you to the beach just at the front of thehouse, without having to cross the main road. Again it’s amazing to get up in the morning and get that fresh sea air.

There is wild garlic that grows in that area as well called "Ramsons" in the SPRING march April, may into June approx. .

It has a white flower on it see:

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allium_ursinum

It amazing on toast with butter, and yummy on tomato an cheese pasta. Try it, unbelievable.

Make sure you use the link to keep safe and identify it correctly without mistaking something else but to be honest, it’s unlikely because there isno other plants I have seen that are like it or poisonous. However check it and if you rub it and it's garlic smell its that what I have been picking it for years you can mix with pasta, sald or anything you like it's all healthy and organic and I absolutely love it. You should try it

HISTORY.. look at the link to the history of the area, datingback 300 years
